Developed since 1950, Spruce Cliff is known for mature tree-lined streets, stunning views of the city & valley and it’s close proximity to amenities & the downtown core. The neighbourhood is aptly named, as it’s located along the Bow River escarpment where there are thousands of natural evergreen trees. It is located north of Bow Trail and east of 37 St SW.
Down below the ridge is Edworthy Park and just to the east of the community is the Shaganappi Golf Course. There are many walking and biking options available in this active outdoor community. On the community’s door step, shared with the entire city, are recreational opportunities of Lawery Gardens in Edworthy Park, the Quarry Road Trail and Douglas Fir Trail hiking paths, and winter community access to Shaganappi Golf Course for cross country skiing.
The Community park space has public basketball courts, an open field for sports, picnic tables, and a Spruce Cliff Centre that accommodates the Community Association, the Bow Cliff Seniors, and the Calgary Lawn Bowling Club. Spruce Cliff Community park area is also the home of the Wildflower Arts Centre and the location of the Greek Festival. Residents have easy access to downtown via the Bow Trail collector and the West LRT.
Spruce Cliff is located just south of the Bow River and bordered by Wildwood, Shaganappi and Rosscarrock.
